Hello. Does anyone have any suggestions for cooling one's water in the warm spring/summer months? We have a rooftop cold water tank, but it's not very handy when you want to do a 'cold wash' in the washing machine. We have turned off our 'hot water', but it doesn't make things any better. Does anyone know of a water cooling system available anywhere? Or any other suggestions for cooling our water...

Thank you everyone for your replies. Ravangrad, do you have the name of the company where you bought your water cooler? Thanks!

Hi, you can buy water cooler (to install on the roof), we have one, it is costly (if I remember right it was 3000 QR), but worth it... you could Google it yourself, we had some people coming and putting it up...fan I would not recommend, since fires are very common here, and anything spinning can cause it...I do my washing morning time, or later in the evening, water from this cooler also is not totally cold, but is ok to have a bath and wash your hands during the day :-)

I know there are companies that do this... but if you can't find one -- could you put a shade tent or something above it to at least keep some of the sun off the tank?

That sounds right to me. Try washing early in the morning too.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out 'tank fans'. For the showering part, I think we're ok... we did shut off our 'hot water', so if we're taking a shower, we can turn on the hot water faucet and warmish water comes out.. so that's ok. I'm more concerned about the laundry. I have a lot of things I usually wash in cold water and with the water being so warm, I'm worried about dark wash fading and shrinkage. Do you think with the washing machine, if I wash clothes on the hotter temp settings, then the 'warmish' water from the hot water tank will be used?

Hi - At our old villa, some years back, we had a fan installed in the top of the tank. For us, it worked fabulous. It won't be "cold" but you could shower mid-day and not burn yourself. I'm sorry I don't have the name of the company anymore but try searching "tank fans." They do exist. :)
