All citizens and expat residents in Bahrain can receive the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine free of charge.
Bahrain has approved the use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Coronavirus vaccine, confirmed the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
It is now the third Covid-19 vaccine option being used in the kingdom, joining the Chinese Sinopharm and US-German Pfizer/BioNTech jabs.
According to test reports, the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has a 70.42 per cent efficacy rate, making it a healthy number. Possible minor side effects of this vaccine includes:
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Chills
- Pain in the injection site
Similar to the Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines, the Oxford/AstraZeneca will come in two doses, a few weeks apart. However, it is much cheaper to produce and easier to store.
Who can get the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine in Bahrain?
Whether you're an expat resident or Bahraini national, you can receive the jab for free through an appointment. Walk-in vaccinations services have been suspended due to the high volume of people.
How to register for a Coronavirus vaccine
To register for your appointment, simply apply through the BeAware app, or on the health alert website. When registering, you can choose between one of the three vaccines and preferred health centre in Bahrain.
For your safety, you mustn't have received any of the other two vaccines in the past.
