ok, i have suddenly got alot more people coming for xmas than i had anticipated and i need extra beds.

so, was thinking that the easiest solution would be air matresses, right?

only, i know nothing of such things as i refuse to camp and ive never actually slept on one, or come to think of it, seen one in real life.

all suggestions / recos welcome!

thanks ladies :-)

My brother has one of these and we used it for the kids when we visited him in the summer. The kids loved it no doubt although I was not too comfortable as I felt the air had reduced over the night. Definitely recommend an electric pump as its very fast to fill and delfate. Another option might be to look into the foldable foam mattresses if you have space and get regular visitors. I have seen the foldable mattress in C4 a few months back. Hope that helps.

I think you can buy electric pumps for them Kitsune...think they have them in C4, or at least the foot/hand operated ones....could take a while with those though, as you have several to blow up...

The only thing I would recommend (if you have the funds) is to buy a thin foam pad to put on top of the mattress before making the bed - cold seeps up from the floor through them and the foam retains body heat. It may seem impossible for a country that requires AC most of the year but tile/stone floors can cool quite a bit.

yes! good point jillmv, will stick the kids on them. hhmmm, but then, to get 3 singles or two doubles or a double and a single........... are they sort of standard bed sizes? oh god, just thought, you dont have to blow them up like a lilo right?

I saw them the other day in Giant Hyatt Plaza. As Chizz said, I'm pretty sure Carrefour has them as well. I have one, but have never used it, but I've used plenty of Air Mattresses in the past. It's never as nice as sleeping on a real bed, but it's fine. If you have a choice - I think it's best to stick kids on them because 1) they think it's fun and exciting - like camping out 2) they don't weigh much, so not as much air leaks out in the middle of the night.

The topic used to come up once in a while on the Dubai forum...people rec'd those air mattresses from Carrefour (they are blue and as I remember the brand name is Intex or something like that)...you could try C4 here in Doha...people said they were comfortable...haven't tried them myself though...I'm sure they'll be several campers on here who can recommend ones too..
