A friend of my husband´s who is already in Qatar is thinking about moving to Ezdan Village in Al Wakra. My husband isn´t in Qatar yet but seems eager to live close to old friends from Portugal once moving to Qatar. I am not so excited about the prospect of basically living outside of the city. Maybe you ladies can help me a little. Anyone knows the Ezdan Village compound in Al Wakra? Positive and negative aspects? How is traffic from there to the center of the city, malls, shopping, schools (German School in Al Maamoura)? Does anyone know who typically lives in Ezdan Village/Al Wakra? From what I saw on Qatarliving a lot of people from India seem to be looking for housing there. I am certainly no racist, so please don´t get me wrong, but I would love to live among Westerners. Hope that doesn´t sound too horrible.

Have a great day everyone :)

One of DH's colleagues is staying there and I would not recommend it. The apartments and villas come furnished and they have recently had problems with bed bugs etc. The rents are quite low compared to Doha but I think if you really want to stay in Wakra, you may be able to find better houses in other compounds. Hope that someone else is able to give u more input.

My 7 year old was invited to a birthday party in Ezdan 31 compound. We were there for 4hrs and from my observation the only persons that i saw were either Indian or Arabic. We were the only westerners there. I am not sure if any of the other Ezdan compunds have westerners since i have only been to one. We live in Doha and travel to Al Wakra for school. The traffic isn't bad going to Al Wakra in the mornings since everyone is coming into Doha, but after the school drop off it takes 30 mins to get back to our residence. On the other hand we live close to the airport so we don't have far to drive when coming back into the city. It all depends on where you want to get to in town and a what time of the day you want to get there. The closest mall coming from Al Wakra would be The Mall on the D Ring which is a relatively small mall, if you want to get to the larger malls like the city center or the villagio you are going to have to pack alot of patience as they are at the opposite end of the town when coming from Al Wakra and Qatar is made up of zillions of traffic lights lol.
