Hi everyone
I recently got hired by Sidra and I'm in the process of applying for my visa.
I was wondering if employers usually pay for the behaviour therapy that children with autism require. I figured if they're paying for school for my other kids, why not? But I haven't asked yet. Any suggestions, recommendation or feedback is appreciated.

Lilly

We have just started at the Child Development Center for Speech Therapy, they also provide services for Autism. The CDC's founders' son has ASD. Their facility is equipped with the proper tools for children with special needs. And the therapists have been well educated and trained. I would highly recommend calling them if you move to Doha. Good Luck!

Investigate what is on offer at Child development centre here in Doha. I believe they are both an educational and therapy centre .They have a facebook page and website.

You will have seen on this (and other) fora how difficult it is to get school places here - in the past schools have declined to accept students with behavioral and/or learning issues. Please please please do your research and get in touch with the people listed below before making any decisions on moving your family.

As far as I know - companies generally DO NOT pay for therapists . They do not even pay for shadow teachers ( should you need one ) . But of course Sidra could be different and it wouldnt hurt to ask .

Hi, as Lalala wrote, if you have not searched yet I recommend you to search for the support that you kid needs before accepting the job - then pose the question to Sidra HR about financial support for therapy. I have heard of parents with kids with some special needs had to renounce to come to Doha as they did not find the necessary support. I don't want to discourage you, but only to warn you that it is better to inquire first about which support is available. Good luck for everything!

Hi Lillyhammer I didn't want to leave you unanswered but I don't have much to add. For various reasons there is a wealth of knowledge within Doha Mums on ASD and what is available in Doha. It's worth sending your queries to them. They have an 'out of sync' group that supports parents with children with SN of one type or another. In answer to your specific question - I would not assume it was a yes. The only way you'll know is by asking Sidra (and bear in mind they may never have been asked this question before). Have you actually sourced the behaviour therapy? I wouldn't assume that what your child needs is available as there is limited support here.
