Hello-My kids are going to go to ASD. We are looking to rent a four bedroom villa in a nice compound near there. We heard about Y Village. Any thoughts? Thank you! Monika

Hi I live on the Y Village compound. There are plenty of teens here and children of all ages. Its very nice the facilities are really good and the maintenance men come quickly if there is a problem. It is a long drive to westbay in the traffic though xxx

Peace with 4, I like your sense of humor! Perhaps will meet one day at kids school or compound. Good luck with everything!

RachelA, yes we are coming from Bryn Mawr! My kid go to Radnor Middle School and RHS. Haverford is such a nice College! Please let me know how your son likes ASD, my daugther will go there for her 10th grade. My son is still waiting for his seat. He will go to 8th. grade. Do you know if the school has a student directory? I will let my husband know about the other compounds. Thanks

brynmawr, I meant to ask in my last post if you are coming from Bryn Mawr as in the Philadelphia main line? I grew up in Philly and went to college at Haverford.

Brynmawr- We are in very similar situations I have a daughter who is going into 2nd grade who got a place at ASD and her brother who should be going to 1st in on the waiting list as well. We should be heading to Doha in August just in time for the school year. As for some of the other compounds the other posters mentioned my husband checked out 9 Pearls and was told there are no vacancies in the foreseeable future. He also contacted the real estate company for the Beverly Hills compounds and was told they only have vacancies in BH 10 and he said the facilities were very limited. Who knew it would be so hard to find housing and schools in Doha! I feel like we're heading to the promised land!

@ Peace with 4 Thank you your feedback! It looks like were are in similar situation. My husband has been in Doha for 3 months now ( staying at the Marriott Hotel )and he just started to look for a villa for us in the last 3 weeks. I'm still in U.S with our kids waiting to finish school year. His company provides a real estate agent to help him , but it looks that many times the agent do not know about up coming vacancies. We were waiting to find out what school will my kids get in to before looking for the house. My 15 years old daughter just got in to ASD , my son is still on the waiting list. My husband saw couple of compounds and also stand alone villas in the last few weeks. We are looking for a semi- finish 4 bed. villa. His impression of some of the compounds were similar to your husband. He like Y Village the most, the only concern i have is that it is far away from school. He liked also Beverly Hills Gardens but they did not have vacancies and i belive all the villas were fully finish. Can you tell me if you have kids and if so what school are you planing to send them. Thanks!

What facilities do they have at Beverley hill? Do you know of any vacancies? Does anyone have contact numbers for the rental office? Have a look at the Al Asmakh site http://www.alasmakhrealestate.com/ It says no vacancies on the website but as we get closer to the summer people will be moving around. I walked around last night and there were at least 2 empty villas but they may be spoken for already. There are a few BH compounds (maybe 16 now because they keep renaming them) so you might find something in another one if not in BHG 1 On BHG 1 We have two pools, tennis court, basketball court, shop, laundry, ladies saloon and a clubhouse with squash court, small cinema you can take your DVDs to, pool table.

We live on Beverly Hills Gardens 1. Its one of the older compounds but we love it. The facilities are good. There's a very wide range of ages from babies right through to teens. Its close to ASD but not walkable unless in the winter but there are pretty busy roads to cross. There seems to be a bit of movement at the moment with people leaving so villas should be coming up.

The 9 Pearls compound just across the street from ASD is very nice, with a lot of other ASD families. For teens it's definitely walkable -- younger kids too but with a parent as there is a big road to cross. Another compound where my teenage son (also at ASD) has friends is Les Roses -- not as close as 9 Pearls but not as far as Y Village. Al Fardan 2 is also close to Y Village and, like all of the Al Fardan compounds, is lovely. I have a teenage son at ASD and we made the move from a compound to a highrise apartment in the West Bay (near City Center). He was happy to give up the compound facilities for ease of access to taxis, cinema/restaurants at the mall, etc. Something to think about if you don't also have younger kids. Although since you are looking for 4bed that might not be an option. We have a large 3 bed, but haven't seen any 4 bed apartments.

Hi- I haven't seen it yet because I'm still in the US but my husband is in Doha and has just booked a villa in Y Village and he was very impressed with the quality and compound compared to the others he had seen. Just wanted to let you know that they told him they only had two vacancies coming up in the next couple if months and we took one. It could have been a means to get us to make a quick decision but check it out quickly in case the information is correct.
