For those that live in the north of the town, don't forget al khor. I take our cars there. The inspection centre is behind the yellow civil defence/fire engine building. Again, as a female, straight in the gate, pay the money at the womens only counter, then drive the car round to the front of the queue for inspections. I try not to look right or left as I do this, to avoid seeing the poor chaps that spend hours in the queues inside and outside the gate.

It is much quicker if you are a woman I think. I go each time and my husband goes and waits in the room while I whizz through. If your car fails the legal requirement you just drive around to the right and get the policeman to sign the document off and that is it. You can then get your registration card done. I have the same every year with my darkened windows. At the registration place I have always asked the Qatari man where do I go? He then directs me to the front of the queue. Very kind of him. I have always found the Qatari men there very helpful to ladies. By the way - if you ask they will unlock the ladies' toilet for you!

Good to know about how quick it is if you're a woman. I'll have to do it for my husband this year since it took him hours last year!

No you don't need inspection to renew insurance - in fact we did the insurance before the inspection. As long as the policeman did his stamp, you will be fine when you renew your registration.

Thanks a Lot.got my Car inspected today. Due to my blond hair they guided me to the Front of the Lane and 15 minutes later all was done. But because my car was dirty it did Not pass the legal requirements check. Strange!!!! But does this affect my Extension of the insurance?

1I'm not sure how this happened - but I just registered my car - 3 years old - without an inspection! Well technically I didn't register it, I had AAA do it for me (part of their "Gold" membership package). I assumed they would take my paperwork, take it for the inspection, deal with the repairs, etc. But when I called to schedule it with them last week they told me that recently one of the centers wasn't requiring inspections (don't know which, but NOT the main one at Medinat Khalifa). I have a lot of scratched, one serious dent, and a cracked headlight. They took my car registration and a copy of my id, and and the next day brought back the new registration card and the receipt for QR 100. The car was definitely not inspected. I decided this was a good time not to ask too many questions!

As a woman you get priority at the inspection place. There is a ladies waiting room and a desk that states "special treatment for ladies"! I took both our cars last month (and last year) and was out in much less than 30 mins each time. Also there are about 6+ lanes for the inspection. Many people go early in the week and early in the day, so I would suggest going Tues - Thurs maybe after 9am.

Just so you know - getting the inspection can be one huge chore. I drive by there everyday to take the kids to school and it is PACKED. Definitely take a book. I believe there are only 2 inspection lanes and the line is really just unbelievable. I think they open at 7am and I would be there early.

If your coming from the roundabout at the top of E Ring Road along towards the Tank Farm...take the slip road just before tank farm, opposite medical place and then take a right before the tank farm - it runs down the side of the Tank Farm. Hope that makes some sense ;)
