I was looking at cost of taking my cat to Doha and I was told about $1600. Australian ...And then I inquired about the cost of shipping he rack when we move home and the agency here In Australia
And they said it was approximately 13,000 QAR and this excludes the $1100 Australian for her to be in quarantine for 30 days when she returns ro Australia!
Is that correct?
Or is that Australian companies trying to rip e off?
I mean ppl take their pets all the time do they they really have to pay this much?
Can anyone lease advise me as on top of all the moving issues
I can't bear the thought of having to part with her :(
It's not her fault we have to move...but rally that cost is ridiculous

Thanks guys

Dear Raahatd, last month I had the same bad surprise when I started asking quotations for import of my dog from Doha to Perth, I got several quotations, included that one of Nicky, but considering everything it would cost approx. 7.000/8.000 euros (more than 10.000 US$)!!! That's it.........

well, so far for us we havent had to worry about quarantine as all our moves have been within the middle east. i think bringing your cat in, she wont need quarantine, but taking her back to australia, she probably will, im not too clued up on it, but nicky will be. but as for the stress of flying etc etc, ours have always done ok with it, one better than the other as she is very laid back. it depends on the pet. i will also say, that many people dont bring thier pets with them for lots of other reasons than the cost. we have freinds who didnt bring their beloved cats because they were getting a bit on in years, were used to having a big garden to roam in, and came from a very different climate. they just felt it wouldnt be fair to the cats, and were in a position to leave them at home with family. so everyone makes their own judgement call about these things. good luck :-)

hi raahatd there is a very nice lady called nicky who does pet travel in and out of qatar from all sorts of places, she is great and can probably give you much more accurate pricing. http://www.qatarpettravel.com/ hth edited to add, yes, it really is very expensive and yes, people do pay these ammounts. us being one of those people :-) although we have moved 3 countries with our pets so far, and we have never been brave enough to work out just how much we have spent.......... edited by kitsune on 30/05/2012
