Hello,

I arrived in Doha from the UK last April and expect to be here for at least a year.
I am a qualified and experienced specialist teacher/assessor for adults and children with dyslexia. Does anyone know of any organisations or educational institutions that might need my services?

Many thanks

Thank you Eleonor I will try some of the international schools. I'm still waiting for my residency visa and a driving licence so at the moment I'm dependent on my husband and taxis to get around. Hopefully I'll have both by the time school starts again in September.

dear Sandpiper, Why don't you show up at schools and at some institution of the national health service? your message gives me the occasion to rise a question: If you apply to any of the private schools you will see that in the admission form they say that they cannot take any child with any special need, even the most simple. Moreover, the schools select and admit children on the base of their school reports, so only pupils with good academic skills are admitted. So I fear that (I don't know, it is my impression) teachers are not able to distinguish if a child is dyslexic or not because they don't have experience (at least in Doha) with children with any sort of special need - even the smaller one. If you offer this service to schools - teaching the teachers how to spot a dyslexic child - and also give consultancy in case there are some children that need it - you will offer a great service to families. this is my impression, but I will encourage you to try. All the dyslexic children that I know come from bilingual families of which one language is a non phonetic language like English or French. I would not be surprised if in Doha there would be many!! thanks a lot for your message Eleonor Hello, I am a qualified and experienced specialist teacher/assessor for adults and children with dyslexia.
