I've seen these mentioned - what exactly are they? So, even if you're living there with a RP, you're not free to come and go? Does every member of the family have to get one every time they leave the country? And where do we get them?
The Doha paperwork seems awesomely scary - UAE seems very simple in comparison!

Thanks - that doesn't seem as bad as I had feared!

It's also important to note that if you are the member of the family sponsored by an employer and you sponsor your husband that your husband must acquire your permission to leave the country. Men simply don't have the freedom women have when it comes to exit permits. ;)

Your / your husband's employer can get you a permanent exit permit which is valid for a year, then you/he don't need to apply for exit visas every time you want to leave the country. And baffled is right, only people sponsored by their employers need exit permits at all, if you and your children are sponsored by your husband you do not need an exit permit, only he does. I must say I found the concept of an exit permit really frightening when I first heard of it but it doesn't feature in our life at all, my husband has a permanent exit visa and me & my baby don't need one. You can check with your prospective employer if they will be providing a permanent exit permit, I must say I would have hated to ask for permission every time I want to go away for the weekend!!!

Needed from your sponsor before you can travel, if you are working and not sponsored by your husband but by your employer. If you are on your husband's sponsorship, neither you (nor the children if you have any) need one but your husband will need one from his employer. I hope I have got this right but if not, I am sure some other posts will clarify soon ;)!
