Hi

At present my daughter is studying in a school which is nearly 18km from my home and the time spent on the road is becoming a nightmare day after day. And adding to our woes is the fact that they do not have any school transportation (before admission they told us that although the school does not have transportation directly, but they have partnered with some transportation company who will do the school run for them and now the transportation company is refusing to do any van service because there are not enough kids who want transportation.)

So due to all these issues we want her to shift to the Pearling School (PSISD). From their website I found they have school transportation and moreover it is less than 5km from my home. So please if anyone has any feedback on this school, then kindly let me know.

There is an insurance fees of QR4,000 but I think we will get back that money when we leave the school but any inputs on this will be great. There is also a facility fee of QR12000. Does anyone have any idea what this fee is and is it legal to charge that extra money after we pay the academic and other fees??
I would also like to know if any of you know how easy or difficult it is to get a mid-term admission (planning to shift only in 2nd term as first term fees is already paid).

Thanks.

Hi Happy-Feet, I am guessing that the facility fee is like the Development levy at Compass International, a 1 off fee for capital investment in the buildings and and facilities. It is only legal if the school has permission from the Supreme Education Council so it is worth checking as we discovered Compass have always charged their Development Levy but never had permission to do so. There are so many parents asking for their money back (about QAR 7,500)and some parents and companies are not charged it. The school should have a stamped paper telling you what they have permission to charge. edited by MollyBran on 15/10/2014

Dina244, As I mentioned earlier, we love the school. When we pick up our son and drop him off we see new students everyday, so they are filling up quickly. We like how they give students individual and personalized attention. And how the principal personally greets students and parents every morning. Teachers are all from the UK, they are young but have experience. My son is challenged enough for his level. They have students from everywhere, native and non-native. I hope this helps :)

As I have said in this forum before, this is a great school. They are still new but I personally find them amazing! The teachers and principal are great, energetic, and very devoted. My son goes there and he loves it. The building itself still needs some work, but that doesn't seem to affect the quality of education they are offering. I'm not sure about the fees, so I recommend you give them a call, or perhaps stop by in person and ask all your questions and take a tour, specially that it is near where you live. Best of luck!
