Hi there,

We are really in a pickle!!... we knew we were relocating to Doha in September and only managed to get a place for our daughter at Compass. We paid the full years fees (which they demand up front) to secure her place but my husbands RP is being delayed by a couple of months (dont ask me why) so school is saying dd cant attend until hubby's RP comes through. We are already in Doha on a business visit visa so I really want dd to attend so that she doesn't fall behind, aside from not getting bored out of her brains at home for next 8 weeks!! Compass is so expensive and actually over our budget, I feel so sad that she wont even benefit and will miss half the term sitting at home.

Does anyone have any experience regarding this situation... is there any way round the problem, is there any alternative paperwork that can be provided? Plz help!!

Sasmi

The children I know about are enrolled at Madinat khalifa Campus and theygott in school the all next week. Could be that as Yodaisis said this week, after the office administration sorted out about the missing RP in the files, they will not allowed them to enter to school from this coming week. I would try in any case, explaining my daughter that there is the possibility to be sent home again. Good luck!

If you do take your children in be prepared that they may send her home, which is what happened to several families last week, and that made the kids really upset! I think a few kids might have gotten away with it for a few days at the most until the admin figured it out, then they were sent home as well. So if u do take yor daughter in, please let us know how it goes!

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am definitely going to try that Kiara76. Lets hope they have some mercy and let her in. Im trying not to get too hopeful though coz I was sent an email last week saying "We note that there is no RP on file so if you did bring your child to school this week you must not do so again" This was sent to me even though I never even sent my daughter in! Kiara would you know if the families that succeeded, was it this academic year and was it Gharaffa campus? Because thats where we are enrolled. Thank ever so much! Sasmi

Sasmi, yesterday I was talking to some friends of mine. They have got two children at Compass and I was been told that there were families in your same statement but they just brought the kids at school and they give to the secretary the Visa and eventually the letter from the company, the school can't send the children home. They have to accept the children and no body was been send back home. I would do the same, just go there with the children and their/your passport and with the company's letter. Good luck. edited by Kiara76 on 15/09/2012

We are also waiting for our RP but our school accepted my two children with a letter from my husband's company assuring that the RP is on process.

We are also in the same position, and I have tried everything I can think of to try and still have my children attend school even though my husband doesn't have his RP yet, and have had NO luck. So we are left waiting to get in the same as you, yet having paid some of the highest schools fees in Doha, it is so frustrating. As most other schools do not require the RP, it appears it is only compass schools :(

Technically I believe it is a requirement from the SEC that copies of the parent's RP be in the file for the child and that the information in the file be complete for the child to attend school. Some schools are willing to temporarily overlook things as long as they have a letter from the parent's employer stating that the RP process has been started. I do think however that people will find that more and more schools are becoming sticklers for the rules as a result of the Villagio/Gympanzee tragedy. Not every t was crossed and i was dotted and it had horrible consequences and some questionable practices were put in the spotlight. So I think more places are making sure they strictly adhere to the rules having all types of paperwork properly handled.
