Hi, I've had 2 totally frustrating days trying to arrange for a hire car. We do have a limited, lower end budget, but I keep being given the run around by companies who won't give me a straight answer. Firstly they say there IS a particular car available, then when I try to arrange the paperwork etc., they say the car isn't actually available until 'maybe' tomorrow, but they can't be sure!!! I'm starting to learn this is not unusual here, but I'm now at the end of my tether. My temp driving licence runs out in 4 days and at this rate, I won't have driven a single km! Anyone else had this experience? Can anyone give any recommendations for a reliable company who have cars in good order? Please help if you can

Thanks for the replies - I've now managed to get a car that I'm happy with - went with a local firm NAQDI, who were very helpful. Hopefully it will prove to have been a good choice. I'd also read the good reviews about Oasis, but they were one of the companies who kept giving me the run around. (One minute there was a car available, then there wasn't, but there 'might be' a different one tomorrow. Then that one wasn't actually available, but it might be the next day, etc etc!). Strong were polite and helpful, but had no cars available within my little budget. (around 2000QR) Thanks again

Oasis or Strong always seem to get quite good reviews from people using them

Hi Ladies, Are there a lot of Car rental companies you can recommend that provides long term (monthly basis) on Compact SUV's or 4x4 type suitable on Qatar's dangerous roadways, that will fit on a budget of $1800 to $2000 monthly? How is driving on a small car works there? Not really looking for glamorous cars but something a litte bigger and safer for my family. I've read a lot of dangerous driving habits of motorists in Qatar and undisciplined semi-truck drivers. Thanks, edited by Fauna on 19/09/2014

I used Superprice several times for about 2 months each time. They were excellent... Dropped off car & picked up, I emailed all my paperwork to them using iPhone pics. Once when I had an accident they towed the car away & dropped off a new car, I paid the excess. I went for the cheapest car option each time & they were fine.
