Not weird: just bored kids with a bag of marbles ... We had the same in Italy, where our apartment also had highly polished marble floors. The little boy in the apartment above ours used to drop his marbles every night to watch and hear them bounce ... His room was above our bedroom too, and like most Italian children, he didn't go to bed until late, so it used to drive me mad. For some reason my husband could ignore it! edited by LadyD on 19/01/2011

Have been hearing marbles falling since the last 7-8 years. Firstly in London in our house and then on moving to Dubai. Was staying in Golden Sands and heard them there as well and now living in Dubai Marina and same thing here as well. Have googled the same and apparently this is becoming more and more common in all parts of the world. From the US, to Europe, Middle East and the Far East. People say it's pipes but then what about the sound of furniture being moved around in the middle of the night. Very weird. Used to happen at late night after midnight but just last week heard it around 5:30 pm and it kept happening for 20 mins and then it stopped. And I do not think it's pipes - just something very weird is happening.
