Unfortunately, this is correct. I applied for my son to take the bus for what is essentially a 15min drive from our house to school and his pick up time was quoted as 5h40.......his school starts at 7h10! We decided not to put him through that on a daily basis, and I now take him myself. On a bad day it takes me 20 minutes (8km). We lost our QR500 deposit to the bus co though :( Their reasoning is that they have to drive from house to house to pick up each child - why they can't just have a central pick up point is beyond me, especially if you live on a large compound like we do.

It is early -- but not surprising. Many schools have a 7am start, so busses are on the road quite early. My son has had pick-ups as early as 5:30, and more recently had a 6:30 bus pickup for an 8am start. In the end we've opted to go with a private driver -- the difference between the 6:30 bus pickup and the 7:20 car pickup is exponential. If the early start proves to be totally insane you can always look for a driver for the next term.

I have just heard that the School Bus picks up from the Mirage Compound where we will be staying in January at 5.30am to take my daughter to Compass Secondary School. Can anybody put some light on this matter, this seems very earily to me!! Do all children have to catch the bus this earily to go to School? Any help would be much appreciated. Kind regards Julie
