Any comments from anyone about this taxi service? It sounds too easy / good to be true!

i love Uber i wouldn't use any other company unless i really have to, i have had so many taxi rides where i'm arguing with the driver about how much he doesn't earn and i should pay him more, as a lady riding on my own this is so intimidating. at least with uber you don't get this, your ride is tracked and you have a note of the drives reg plate and his name. i had a kareem from the city center on Friday to my house it cost me 18QR then on Saturday the same journey cost me 28QR i don't understand where they get their prices from!! We have had a few hiccups with Uber but once we've spoke to the manager (you always fill a ratings review after your journey - if you mark it bad they contact you) they have always refund our journey and then some

I use Uber and Careem pretty regularly. I have also used Uber in the US and Careem in Dubai. I generally prefer Careem, particularly because you can book in advance (although that costs more). I also like that you can add "notes to driver" so you can add in an important detail. Careem was particularly great one friday when neither its app nor Uber's was finding any drivers -- and a few minutes later I got a call from the Careem office in Dubai saying they could find someone for me event though nothing came up on the app -- and the driver was there quickly. With both - i like that you can trace where the car is, that you know the driver details, plate number, etc, and can send it to a friend/ spouse/ parent along with confirmation that the rider has arrived. edited by JillMV on 28/09/2014

Excellent service, but couldn't set up the app on my phone, so husband had to do it on the Ipad and we had to lug that around all night! (as he doesn't have a smartphone). So if you can set it up easily, I would highly rec'd!

I set up my account and downloaded the app on Sunday morning, then used it for a ride to the airport. It was perfect! And the list of cities worldwide where you can use it is pretty extensive -- will make traveling a lot easier. The other thing I did was redeem some nojoom points (from ooredoo) for uber credit. After my first ride I got an email with a link and following explanation: [i'>[b'>"Sharing your invite link is the easiest way to rack up free Uber rides. Every new rider who signs up with your code will get their first ride free, and you'll earn a free ride (up to QR40) for spreading the word. It's the ultimate win-win." [/b'>[/i'> So if anyone out there is thinking of trying it and hasn't yet set up an account, feel free to do it through this link: https://www.uber.com/invite/uberrachelawad123

If they're as good out there as they are here, you'll be fine :)

Not heard of that one ... will investigate! Now that Fox Limos in Doha charges per minute and per km, if you get stuck in traffic (and when does THAT not happen!) it can work out pretty pricey.

It works ok in Dubai. Have you also got the option of Careem in Qatar, which I find is a better service.
