Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help. We just moved from Dubai to Doha about a week ago and I am trying to find my way around. Is there a Waitrose or Spinneys here? When googling I seem to get conflicting info. I was also wondering if there are any good shops for organic food and health supplements? Thank you.

Hi Little Spoon, thank you for reply. Great, I will check out Jones the Grocer then! The one in Dubai is great, they have most groceries, toiletries, supplements, health stuff , you name it plus there's a cafe/restaurant.

Jones the Grocer in near City Centre Mall has some organic goods. Not sure what you're after, but the cafe is great and the deli seems good - I have no idea what the Organic Shop and Cafe is like in Dubai, but Jones certainly seems to rival some of the similar caffs/delis I've seen in the UK. <em>edited by Little Spoon on 19/09/2012</em>

Thank you so much for your replies momoym, marycatherine and RachelA! That is a shame there is no Waitrose! I am also really missing the Organic shop and Cafe they have in Dubai and Bahrain but oh well, what to do. Will check out Megamart and the two Spinneys. Yes, my husband told me about the licence, sorting it out, hoping it will not take too long... Thank you again ladies!

Welcome to Doha Spinneys here is Not great at all.. Megamart carry some waitrose stock... I got some waitrose couscous and mango chutney other day.. Really miss going to spinneys for my pork products.. Here you have to have a drinks licence to go to the pork shop...

Spinney's here doesn't compare to DXB. It is improving slowly though. The "big" store here is not big enough to carry the variety of products that the shops in DXB carry. Their meat and fish counters were quite sad when they first opened and although they have expanded slightly since then, I am hoping in time they will carry more variety. Unfortunately, Spinney's, like so many of the shops here, often have run out of what you're looking for and it can take weeks/months for it to show up again, if it ever does :( But I don't think that this is the shops' fault - more to do with the supply lines and maybe delays in inspections on arrival in Qatar

There are 2 Spinneys -- one on the Pearl and on in The Mall (that's the actual name of the mall) on the D Ring Road. If you are coming up the D ring Road with the airport behind you, you'll come to The Mall roundabout after you pass Lulu on the left. Make a u-turn at the roundabout (heading back toward Lulu and the airport) and take the 1st right to The Mall parking lot. I've heard that the Spinneys here are not nearly as good as the ones in Dubai, so hope you're not disappointed. There's no waitrose here.
