My daughter will be starting Sherborne in September and we live in West Bay Lagoon. I was wondering if any of you ladies out there doing the West Bay Lagoon to Sherborne school run could tell me how long it takes, what time do you leave to get to school and is there any way of avoiding the Duhail/Gharaffa roundabout?

Many thanks

Thank you for your replies ladies. My daughter will be going into year 7. Compass wasnt a consideration for me. I cant really comment much about the school as i dont know very much about Compass. I cant say that ive ever heard any negative reports and its a fast growing school. Perhaps you could ask here on the forum. I had several reasons for choosing Sherborne. I am more than happy to email you if youd like to discuss further. Not looking forward to leaving the house so early in the morning. But ive heard a rumour from some sherborne mums that they are considering an 8am start. That would be a god send!

Have a friend in West Bay Lagoon who leaves the house about 6.35 and takes her 30 minutes roughly to get to Sherborne. I come from Duhail and it takes me about 25 mins. There isn't really a way to avoid Gharaffa but to be honest it gets busy but unless there are police on the roundabout or an accident, it flows smoothly. Takes me about 5 minutes at the most to get through. The killer for Sherborne is the road the school is on - there are 5 other schools at the end of the road and the traffic is stop start the whole way, can take me 10 minutes to drive that 2km stretch :(. Picklz - did you put your two down on the waiting list. The first term fees at Sherborne for most grades are due in the next couple of weeks, and a lot of people hedge their bets by popping the kids down on two or more schools, this means when it comes to paying the fees in advance they have to pick a school and if they don't pick Sherborne this should free up some places.

Just out of curiousity...which year groups did you get in for Sherborne? We had also applied..just this past Thursday though...but they had said the year groups were now full. We were looking at Reception and Year 2.

Hi there, this is not a direct answer to your question but have just seen that you are sending your daughter to Sherborne in Sept. My daughters have also been offered a place there but we are still in the UK and have not yet seen the school. We are trying to decide between Sherborne and Compass as all the others are full. Wondered if you had any thoughts on either. We are most likely also going to be living in West Bay area. Sorry for all the questions and irrelevant reply to your question. Thanks
