Maybe it does depend on the level of the tinting? Mine are pretty blacked out on the sides so perhaps that's why I have it on my registration etc. Having said that so many things change here, who knows!
I tinted the windows of 2 cars here in doha, never needed the police permit nor paid anything during registration.I have tinted windows not completely black though :)
and...every year you renew your car registration you have to have the tinted windows signed off again! Not a big job but you `fail' the legal part of the vehicle inspection evey time until you have it done. Well worth it though!
mine cost Qr 250 only, concurr about not being allowed to get the back windows done and yes driving at night you have to be really careful as cars seem to sneak up on you. The most important thing is that you need police permission to do this. I just went to the traffice police at the veg market, it cost QR 20 and they mark your Istama (car registration plastic card) with the permission to do it if you dont do this then you can be fined. It does make a big difference in the summer to the heat in the back of the car.
there are so many companies, and for an SUV it will cost between 1500 and 2000,u can do yr car all over, except the % of tinting cant be high, meaning the darker u want it,they cant do all windows or rear and front at least. From personall experience, on my previous car i had all side windows quite dark ( it was heat reducing film ) and front and rear with lower percentage....ITS WAS A NIGHTMARE pulling out at night. Good luck.
@mrvm - DH thinks about QR1500 to have the side windows done in the backseat and back of the SUV, but again, they wouldn't do the back gate saying it was illegal.
Yeah, RachelA - you've beaten me to it but I was at the tennis final. Cheap excuse, I know!;)
I think EW Qatar should reward you for this tidying up - LOL.
We just had our done at Titanium on Al Mataar Al Kadeem. The did a nice job and it was done very quickly. We were just surprised to find out that you can't have the back window tinted (or so we were told...)
care
I think Johnsons (Johnstons??) is good - or so I've heard. They are all around the place - there is one behind the petrol station where mega mart express is and another along Salwa Road just past the Hardees roundabout.
