Hi, so I'm day 3 here in AD and starting to try to figure out where to view appartments. We are in the hotel for the next 3 1/2 weeks. I've had a look on Dubizzle and there is a mixture of property available. I am looking for something with a gym and a pool and quite new, modern and clean. We don't really want to spend more than 115-120k AED for the rent for a 2BR.

Al Reem/Marina Square seem obvious targets, but I wanted to canvas some opinions before setting up any viewings. Does anyone live on the island or have viewed any properties there? Furthermore, are there any other places worth checking out? ! I'm going to be a SAHM for the next year, most likely.

All opinions welcome! !!
Thanks :)

Thanks a lot! Does your current place at Muroor Road have the same kind of facilities as in Al Reem Island? Could you tell me which agent you went through? We will probably take a look around the area...I appreciate your reply! -Thanks again, the usual apartment blocks in the mushrif and muroor area are very different to reem they are usually low rises and have no facilities. the ones in reem are tall and have parking and pools and faciliites etc.

Actually it doesn't..after living there for a 1.5 years i only went down 3 times.. so when we were looking for a bigger place we decided we didn't really care about these extra facilities.. however, right next to us is a surooh building (same people as Sky and Sun tower) it's called al murjan tower you might like it.. its really nice has all the facilites.. starbucks and other coffee shops 2 mins away.. also spinneys and a nail salon are downstairs.. we don't live there but it's a walking distance and we go there for coffee sometimes.. and mushrif mall is right next to it.. 5 mins by car.. for our second home we went to ADCP, we gave them our budget and the number of rooms we are looking for and they gave us a list of EVERYTHING available.. we went to them one by one until we settled in this building..

I lived in Sky Tower for 1 year and 1/2. I loved it in the beginning. The view, the security, the gym, the jacuzzis, the parking, etc.. but with time i started hating it. it's so secluded, it takes you 10 mins from once you enter the island till you get to your place. getting from one elevator into another so that you can reach your room. you won't be able to meet people, nothing is close to you except waitrose and geant, and they still dont have everything you need. yes you have cafes and restraunts but i didn't like them much. the atmosphere is so different. my DH and I ended up not going out much because of the hassle of getting to your car. also the fire alarm usually is false, and you panic about how are you going to go down 57 flights of stairs while 9 months pregnant. A lot of violation in the reception where people park their cars and you just end up not being able to wait there because you will block the road. It was just too much, and the rooms where extremely small and no storage space, when i delievered i had no place for the baby's stuff, and ended up using the living room to keep everything, and stopped accepting guests because there was no space for them. However, we just recently moved to Muroor Rd. and i am loving it so much there. i finally feel like i am in a home and not in a hotel room, and since we moved in Feb, we met almost all our neighbors and i finally have a lot of storage to keep unneeded things..
