A new project will soon help tourists get travel health insurance as they apply for their UAE visit visas, announced the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) on Monday.

If there's one thing tourists are advised to get before travelling to a new country, it's getting a travel health insurance package.

A local health insurance policy for travellers lets visitors stay safe and enjoy every moment of their adventure, without worrying about the possibility of a high hospitals bills in case of a medical emergency.

New project announces health insurance for travellers applying for UAE tourist visa

According to the authority, the "health insurance for tourist visas" is part of its "transformative projects".

Visitors can get their health insurance policies while applying for their travel permit online through the official ICP website or app.

Major-General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, said the project aims to help tourists get health insurance while applying for their UAE visas online through the ICP portal, to provide medical cover in emergency cases.

It will become easier for travellers to go through the process of getting health insurance, via an e-platform that will "manage the pricing and issuance" of health policy packages from major insurance providers in the UAE.
