1. Unsolicited Call From an Unknown Number

The first thing to be suspicious of is that the caller is not registered in your contacts list.

Another red flag is if the caller claims to be from a reputable company but they're unable to provide verifiable details.

2. Pressured Into Acting Immediately

Was the caller using high-pressure tactics to coerce you to act immediately? That's another sign of a scammer on the phone.

3. The Offer Sounded Too Good to Be True

Sometimes scammers try to lure in victim with promises of an attractive offer, or they claim that you've won a raffle prize.

4. Requests For Your Personal or Financial Information

If the caller asked for your personal details (name, address, Emirates ID number, etc.) or your financial information (OTP code, online bank login details, bank pin, etc.), then we strongly recommend that you change your login details immediately and close your current cards - because you won't like the last one...

5. Unrecognised Transaction or Money Transfer

If you've provided your personal and financial information, then notice an unrecognised money transaction made from your bank account, unfortunately it's likely you've been duped by a scammer over the phone.

  • Change your bank PIN.
