Hi,

My husband and I will be moving to Abu Dhabi in August and our baby will be 8 months old. Can anyone please give me some info about what injections I should try to get for our son before we go. Can we get the injections there? What is the medical care like for babies over there etc?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My kids have had the normal ones you get, the MMR etc etc that you get. Extras you should defo have the BCG. I know that you used to get in the UK at age 13 and they have stopped doing it a couple of years ago maybe, but coming to this neck of the world you should have it, all babies are given here at birth. Both mine have had it, one was born here so had to have it, but gave his 2 year old brother it as well. Also extras I have had Hep A and Hep B, and Meng C. You can have the BCG here but you are better getting it done in uk if you can persuade your doc to do it, I know people have had to fight to get it done in the last few years as its not considered really necessary here, but with all the different nationalities that live here you should do it. Medical care and babies, well we are not living in the middle of africa, they have very good docs here, and babies the Corniche hospital here in abu dhabi has the highest birth rate of many a hospital so i wouldnt worry. Of course if you have a specific medical issue then sometimes here is not the best, but if its nothing specific then here is just fine.
