One word of caution about CIS. We got charged aed500 for the "assessment" which we were told involved reading a story to the child and then some questions to check the child understood it. On the day of the assessment the lady from admissions talked to us mainly. There was no story read, or questions for the child, only a few word's exchange. We were told we would receive a call by the end of the end. I rang a week or so later and left message -no reply. Two weeks after the first call I rang again and was told an email had been sent to us (never got it) and they would send it again. That very day we got the email turning us down. The letter did not specify if they had no places, or if our kid failed the "assessment" (which we didn't see take place and for which we paid aed500). The letter was the generic sort with the child's name inserted -you know what I mean. Can you spell "rip-off"? they shouldnt be charging you for the assessment, they can only charge you 500dhs for a registration fee. usually the assessment is basicially just checking that your english is up to par, if its an english speaking school etc as thats what the curriculum will be taught in.

know a few people that go there, and they are very happy with it. its certainly better than a lot of other schools, but it really depends on what curriculum you want and need to go back into when you leave here etc. there would be a lot of schools that i would have way down a possible list this would be up in the middle after the british curriculum schools and thats because we need the national curriculum, but i had come into abu dhabi now i wouldnt be put off.

Have heard some good things about CIS, a couple of negative, but mostly it seems to be an OK school. Just from hearsay - not our own experience!
