what quite often happens is that you find out places at other schools the day before term starts or because the schs all start slightly different then you may be in school for a week and a place becomes available at preferred school. be careful tho as if the sch has completed the paperwork its difficult to just up and move.

Hi Everyone, I was hoping someone could give me some advice! We are moving over to Abu Dhabi from the UK in September and are hoping to be placed in company accommodation on the Corniche. If not it will be Khalifa City. We have applied for so many schools, all the Aldar Schools etc near to the Corniche, but the only one we got a place offered was at the GEMS Cambridge at Al Mafraq which looks ages away when you look on a map but according to a distance calculator is a 30-40 min drive. I have no way of working out if this is right or not, does anyone have any clue if this is right? If it is going to be a toal nightmare would it be better for us to be in Khalifa City? We are hoping for a place at Al Muna or Pearl, but as we are trying for FS2 and YR2 we are facing a massive uphill battle for places!!! Thanks in advance hi that is right from corniche roughly to there it will be like 30mins, it may be like 35kms or so but its quick roads its motorways, the thing that takes up time is the traffic lights, each one you can take 2 mins to get thru! if you have a place at gems cambridge international actually in baniyas then i would go for kca but even from there it will be 15 mins drive.... the nearest place to live is kcb which is right opposite. unfortunately you have to accept the places that you are given, and then find a house afterwards which is near to them... if you can.
