Salaam ladies,

Ok one of the things I really wanted to do as part of agreeing to move to UAE was to continue my education. I started a BA (Hons) last sept in Social Work but deferred due to financial issues. As I wont be able to attend the university with the move to UAE, I was looking to cancel my placement there (which is currently frozen) and do some kind of distance/online learning course.

Last night I had my heart on criminology and psychology joint honers degree via open university because I could get funding for the course whilst we are out of work but on further investigation one of the rules is you have to be living in an EU country unless the country you are in is stated separately. Well Abu Dhabi and Dubi aren't =(

Do you know of anywhere that supplies distance courses? Preferably NOT business and finance stuff (but still tell me just in case). I would love to combine psychology with something so that I can still look for a career in the social or judicial sector in the future.

I will be working in UAE so wont be able to attend a university campus, I need to be able to do all my studies from home in the evenings.

Thanks!

You can also try the University of South Africa (UNISA). UNISA is a long distance learning institution and they offer a variety of degrees.

Thanks for that! Rang them and can't enroll this year because deadlines for registration is same sort of time we are moving to UAE and we haven't yet secured work to be able to make the installments =( ...but on a positive note they have sociology and law with could be a good substitute for me. Have printed out the information to refer back to next year if I don't do anything else in the mean time. Can't say thank you enough for opening up another route! =)

You could try the University of London external programmes, they have a wide selection and you can just pay per module, and you have a certain time to complete the whole course. I am planning to go via this route for my LLM as I am also working full time. Good luck.
