Hi Ladies, it looks like our move to AD is taking shape and we are now looking at where exactly to live. Hubby will be working at the airport, I won't be working for now and kids have yet to get school places. I know as in Qatar, it is good to be near the schools so traffic isn't so bad but I am trying to compose a shortlist of places so that when we next come over for a visit, we can look at them all.

We need a compound with nice facilities for the kids ie communal areas, pool, courts etc and we definitely need a garden for the animals! The compounds that come up frequently and we have visited briefly are Mangrove Village & Golf Gardens and I think we may just be able to get something in our budget of AED230k. Others weve seen on the internet are Seashore, which I believe are next to one of the above (?), Al Raha Gardens - nice mix of accommodation it seems but no pool, and finally Bloom Gardens which I can't find any info on.

If anyone has any info on compounds which might fit our bill with a 12 and 10 year old or can give any details about any of the above, it would be really helpful. Have contacted a few agents but some just send us details of absolutely the opposite of what we've asked for!

Many Thanks

Hi Chickadee Did you manage to find somewhere? It can be confusing especially if you have not arrived in the country yet! I am from the UK and have been living here nearly three years and work in real estate so can help you out if you are still stuck or have any more questions :) Kind Regards

We live in Al Dhabi Complex, and really like it here, near Khalifa Park and Brighton College, just behind Al Bateen Airport, so very good access to everywhere. it is in your budget.

Im gonna mve in 2 weeks to Al Seef Compound in Khalifa Park. I think Khalifa park has good villas and good facilities. I lived for a year now in Reem Island.

You could also try Sas Al Nakheel Village, you'd defnitely get a 4 bedroom for that (not sure about availability now though) It's a nice community with good facilities. When checking out villas, it was the best we could find in AD that was within our budget (and believe me because I am fussy and looked everywhere!) There's also the Hills, they might be above budget though? Personally I didn't like Raha Gardens, I found the villas too close together and the streets are not wide enough and sunken an bumpy so I thought it just looked worn, beautiful greenery and the villas themselves are nice though. Golf Gardens is lovely, but was above our budget, same for Mangrove. The thing I like about Sas is that it is easy to get everywhere, as there are several routes into town, after Maqta bridge you can either go Salam, Airport Rd or Khaleej Al Arabi so if there's been an accident one way I can just pick another. You can't do that as easily from Mangrove and Seashore as you only feed onto Khaleej Al Arabi road. However the way into Sas is awkward, but if you've been once it's easy. Good luck house hunting, it's hard work :)
