Hi my husband is starting work in Abu Dhabi next week and I hope to follow in the next couple of months if all goes well with his job. I am apprehensive about this move as it means leaving my family and dog behind but also my job as a practice nurse in the UK which I love. Will it be easy to make new friends and what is nursing like in the UAE? Many thanks

You could train to be a doula, there are quite a few in Dubai, but only a small handful of us here in AD. As for meeting people.. come along to the Expatwoman Coffee Morning on Wednesdays.

Hi I'm currently working as a midwife in the UK and moving out to join husband next month. Not sure I'll be able to get a midwifery job here as less than 2 years experience. Also looking to meet some new people Tash x maybe but it can take a very very long time to get the necessary haad licence, but you could go and work as a sch nurse or something along those lines, a lot of people do that they go and work in nursery schools etc.

in order to practice as a nurse etc you have to have a licence with haad, which can take years....! they are not very efficient. you could look around for a job as a school nurse, but again they may require a haad licence etc.
