Will definitely look in to the schools mentioned, I have heard that it is difficult with waiting lists etc so need to act fast. Good to know new schools are opening up!! How would I get the Registrars/numbers of the new schools is there a list somewhere?? My husband is living about 5 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi Shopping Mall but we would be moving I would say if me and the kids went over as his apartment would be too small long term. Must really find out location of where we would be living and look at schools around that area. So much going round in my head as alot to think about, bit daunting I must say especially with kids if it was only me i'd be over there. How long are you there?? Have you kids?? and What do you think of family life in Abu Dhabi?
Hi you have so many options in Abu Dhabi!
Do you know what area you will be living in? Will your husband get help with school fees? Some kids here go full time from 3 but there are plenty other options based on your preferences :) u also have a wide choice of curriculums too ..
yes there are a few schs now but still very difficult to get into waiting lists are huge for the more established schools, there are new ones opening up in september, you need to talk to the registrars as fs2/reception is quite a difficult year to get into. best bet talking to the new schs, they may well still have space but again they may already be full. for new brit schs look at reach british sch, gems cambridge international school and if you have more money in your pocket then cranleigh and repton.
no you have to do things differently in uae. you need to find a school first and then the accommodation around it otherwise you may well have to commute a long way and once you commit to a property you have to pay up front the years rent, so if you pick the wrong apartment and get a school miles outside you will have a long long drive. if you are close to admall then the new schs on reem and saadiyat may be the best, but they are the most expensive, repton and cranleigh. the other new options are off the island at reach british school and cambridge international they are in baniyas up towards the airport area. look at all the websites the information for the registrars are there, under admissions etc. also there are rules that with a family you must have at least 2 bedrooms and more they will not give you a visa otherwise.
me been here like nearly 16 years, kids in bsak.

Hi all,
Living in Ireland at present, my husband is working in Abu Dhabi a while now. We have two boys. One is school going age. I am thinking of joining my husband in Abu Dhabi but don't know about a school for my eldest, he will be going in to Senior Infants now this September.(He's turning 6 in November this year). My second boy is 3 so would be going in to pre-school/Montessori a few mornings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
