Hi guys!
I am a teacher who will be moving to teach in Al Ain in august. I am a 26 year old female, engaged, no kids or anything but would love to make friends. Can anyone send me info on hang out spots?

Also, will I definitely need a car to live in Al Ain?

I will be posting a lot of questions here soon, thank you so much for your hospitality

Hi there. I will be moving from Dubai to Al Ain next week with my young son (4). I am interested to know about activities I can do with him in the afternoon after he finishes school....any advice? Femmebrulee....how did you find settling in Al Ain? Thanks :) Hi feebee2, Welcome to Al Ain! A couple of places that come to mind for afternoon activities are: House of Arts: [url=http://www.house-of-arts.net/'>link[/url'> Rugby Club: [url=http://www.alainrugby.com/'>link[/url'> You'll be able to see a bit more information about what goes on if you check out the Al Ain Expat website: [url=http://www.alainexpat.com/'>link[/url'> If you're on Facebook then you can search for the Al Ain Expats Parents Group (it's a closed group so make sure you have your settings set to receive messages from the administrators).

I also live in Al Ain and thoroughly enjoy it. There is not a lot to do for single young women, but, there is the Rugby Club, the Rotana gym and also the Hilton hotel here. There'd are some good shopping malls. They are many other teachers so you will not be alone. I am quite a bit older than you but am always happy to help new comers to this lovely city. Al Ain is much more conservative than Dubai or Abu Dhabi so be prepared for that. It is a lovely city; weather is really nice; actually is is cold at night at the moment and just lovely during the day. I do think you will need a car, certainly, I do. If you want to contact, as Go Girl suggested, post your email and a couple of us I am sure will be happy to email you our contact details for when you arrive or for more detailed auctions and answers. I am sure that the other teachers in the school in which you will be teaching will welcome you and show you everything there is to know. So, I would not worry. When will you marry? Is your fiancé here in the UAE? Does he plan to come here?

I live in AD, but last time I stayed at the Al Ain Rotana there was a big group of youngish teachers all sat out by the pool bar there enjoying themselves. Trader Vics at Rotana seems to be popular as well, not sure about the other hotels as the only other one I've stayed at is Hilton, and it was old and didn't seem to have much going on. Not sure about a car, Al Ain is quite small, but if you want to be able to get to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, it's a good hour drive and there aren't many public transport options (if any!) Good luck with the move. :)
