So - we are moving there this August and my kids (more so my 8 year old daughter) is itching to start making friends now. My son is still in denial about moving and keeps hoping we are going to say we're joking and decide to stay.

I think it would be great if they had someone their age (and hopefully who will be in their class/live in the same area/have parents who work at the same place) to correspond with.

My son is almost 11 and will be going into 5th grade next year (most likely at ACS) and my daughter is 8 and going into 3rd grade next year (most likely at ACS). We will be living in the Al Maha Complex (near Al Bateen airport and 3rd Street/Muroor or New Airport Rd.) and DH will be working at the US Embassy.

My son likes American Football, Soccer, Rugby, Video Games. My daughter likes gymnastics & soccer.

Anyone kids who might want to pen pal/email them would be welcome. Just PM here and I can get their email addresses to you.

Thanks!

My son is 11 - we're moving to AD in August and he would like to email your son. He'll be starting 6th grade at Gems American Academy in Khalifa City in Aug. (I'll be working at Gems World School in the city and we'll be living near 11th st and New Airport Rd.) So we're not really close to you but he likes video games, american football, baseball, and fencing. You can email me at [email protected]. Allyson

Your children are the same ages as my own, and they also go to ACS. Alas, we are moving in the next couple of months. Hope you get someone to reach out and do a bit of emailing before you arrive. I agree, it can be really helpful. Actually, email me at [email protected] and I will see if I can put you in touch with a family or two with kids this age. They would be in my daughter's class. Lisa
