Name change dilemma! Any advice?
Hello everyone!
So I got married in 2018 and haven't yet taken the time to change my name due to Visa and Emirates ID etc. However - we are now expecting our first child and it is really important to me that we all have the same surname once baby arrives. I am currently employed but my company haven't been very supportive and therefore it is unlikely I will return after my 45 days maternity leave so I will also need to move over on to husbands sponsorship.
I am from UK - does anyone know how difficult the process is to change my name on my passport to my married name? Will the British embassy in Abu Dhabi be able to help me to do this? Online it says I have to send my original documents (marriage cert and passpprt) via the post... is this still the case if I live over seas??
Once my name is changed on my passport then my Visa and Emirates ID can follow suit?
I am planning to travel to the UK in Feb just before it's too late into my pregnancy but I will only be there for 5 days which I dont think is long enough to change my name there??
I dont even know where to start with this so would appreciate any suggestions at all. As if pregnancy and marriage in the UAE isn't complicated enough as it is!!
