For some reason when there is an article in todays paper about there being a cheetah roaming through the streets of Abu Dhabi it doesn't surprise me. Given all the things I have read about, hear about and seen here... I am sure it is someones pet....

Edited to say that The National says it was kept in a cage on the roof of a villa. Usual place for a cheetah, right?

My DS tells me that a villa up from us has large Cats inside and he doesn't mean kitty cats ! He went for a visit with a mate :( what about the 2 tigers that live in the glass compound in the dubailand building?

Horrendous. Made us weep. But while there is a market for it...But that's a deeper issue. Spoiled ill educated oafs aren't they? As for the lions at AlAin zoo, well I despair. but the animals in al ain zoo are much better cared for that dubai zoo....... but of course it may be of a different standard to the rest of the world, at least in aa they are trying.

Given today's paper says that you can be fined up to 50,000 dhs for having the cheetah illegally in the UAE, I'm guessing the owner won't be putting his hand up to acknowledge it as his anytime soon. Although.... to some people here I guess that is small change.
