I am assuming this stands for personal/public relations officer??

Does your potential employer assign one or are you expected to get one yourself? And what exactly do they do?

My in-laws who already live and work in UAE have never mentioned this before.

Bless you busybee, I think you're the only one replying to my posts in this forum. I don't actually have a contract yet but I'm using an agency to help maximize my applications. I've been actively applying for a few weeks. I'm hoping to be in Abu Dhabi within 3months. I can go over and lodge with my in-laws once I have some serious interviews lined up (on a visit visa) but I'm asking 1million and 1 questions because moving with 2 little ones (6months and almost 3yrs) isn't the easiest thing in the world and also I don't get on with my m-i-l so depending on how things play out I'd prefer to get our own accommodation and a maid sorted ASAP. I hear what you were saying on my other post about completing your probationary period before signing up to lots of stuff and getting in debt but I need to make sure that we have enough to care for the kids at least. I could maybe stand 3months with m-i-l......maybe =\

it depends on your company, most companies have a pro which is as you say public relations officer, this person is usually the one that organises your visa and paperwork etc etc. but some companies will only do for the worker and not necessarily for the family it all depends on the company policy, so its difficult to say. which company are you working for?
