I have friends who love Saadiyat (they don't have kids and love that it's a bit out of the way and they can walk to the beach) and others who find it a bit isolated and a pain to have to go into city to get groceries etc (I think hey have since opened a shop or two there though). So it really depends on personal preference. We live in Sas al Nakheel Village and work on Corniche and it takes me 30 mins max to get to work (20 if I leave at the right time) so you have a lot of options as Salam Street and Khaleej Al Arabi all get you into the city in 20 mins (30 in morning traffic). There are some great older apartments close to parks that would be nice for kids in the city, near to Abella supermarket etc. Villa compounds are usually more family based and have lots of kids, but of course can be more expensive. Good luck.

Hi! I'm moving to Abu Dhabi in December/January with my husband and 8 month old daughter. I have lived in Poland and Canada previously. My husband will be working around the Capital Garden Pond (Al Markaziyah). We are looking for a 3-4 bedroom flat, with a budget of up to 200,000AED. I would love a shared pool;-) Could anyone kindly suggest a good community to live less than 30 min. commute to Capital Garden Pond? I don't know anyone in Abu Dhabi and don't want to feel isolated. Would Saadiyat Island meet my criteria? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! This forum is super helpful with getting info. THANK YOU!
