Hi Girls,
I sponsor a full time maid and wanted to share it (2-3days a week); not enough to do in our house. If i do so, is it legal? Which aspect should i consider before doing it?
Many thanks

Thanks but i guess i was not clear enough with my comment. So if i give her a trip home this summer and pay her one month of salary while she is away, will i have to provide her with a second flight ticket during her contract of 2 years with me? Hope, you understand what i try to say :( the rules are that you provide her a flight home after 2 years, if you decide to give her a trip after 5 months i would say you still have to provide 1 after 2 years, the only people that would be able to advise you would be immigration etc.

Yap, i thought about that but she is with us only since 5 months. Does it mean we will still have to send her home or give her the equivalent of her flight ticket when it will come to one year in January? yes you have to provide a flight ticket after 2 years.

Oh la la! I am very shocked. I didn't see any arm doing it since, my maid would have be happier and i would have not be worried for her. I will be leaving for 2 months this summer so not much to do except watering the plants and keeping the place clean. At the end, not such a bad life for her. those are the rules, there is no harm in it, but this is not the uk or anywhere else and if anything was to happen you as the sponsor would be liable, there are many a funny thing going on, i can tell you. yes a lot of people do it and its up to you, you have been given the information and its there for you to see. even when you are away and on holiday you are still responsible for what she does some people now even have installed webcams as they have experienced a lot of trouble. thats not to say that all maids are the same, they are not but the rules are that a person can only work for their sponsor.

I sponsor a full time maid and wanted to share [b'>it[/b'> Really? It??? :\: maybe sharing "the costs"?? anyway its illegal you are responsible for the maid as you sponsor her. if you allow her to go and work elsewhere how do you know that is what she is doing you are accountable as the sponsor. I am fully aware of the legalities of sponsorship. Wish I wasn't surprised constantly by the way people refer to other human beings.

Many thanks this is illegal. obviously a lot of people do it, but if you are caught the fine is in excess of 50k think it was doubled recently too to 100k. the sponsor will be fined, the person illegally using the maid will be fined, the maid will be deported, and even the sponsor could be deported too. also if you are caught the maid is thrown in jail, the sponsors passports are taken away and it goes to court and the whole process could take 6 months, so you would be stuck ....... is it worth it?
