Hi everybody,

My fiance and I think we are going to focus on finding somewhere to move on Al Reem Island. After looking on propertfinder.ae and dubizzle, we like those flats, prices and location the best. Does anyone live on Al Reem and what are your thoughts about living there? He leaves for AD on friday and has four weeks to find accomodation. Pretty difficult because I will be in Texas until our June 1st wedding, so it's all up to him! I plan on bringing my small dog over later in the year and want to be sure that I can take her for walks and find an apartment complex that is pet friendly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

reem is still like a building site... so its improving... but if it works out then its fine.. of course when they were planning reem it was going to be much more squashed in with tower blocks after tower blocks, until they came to realise that all the utilities such as schools and shops and "everything" was on the big island and "1" bridge! so its a bit better planned now.

Hi, I too live in Marina Square and I love it. There are pros and cons whenever you move to a new place. I'm in one of the older buildings and find my apartment very spacious. If I had to put fault to it I would say that the lack of dishwasher space is a pain but the rest of the apartment was so awesome that we took a view on it not being essential. There are buildings on Reem Island that have the fitting though. You'll have to make your own decision on that. It's convenient to have the larger Geant within walking distance but if you prefer a larger store there is a Co-Op, Carrefour and Lu-Lu less than a half hour drive away. I do the bulk of my shopping in the Marina Mall Carrefour (25 minutes away) and generally go to Geant for little quick shops. If your husband travels a lot for work you are about a half hour from the airport. Being so close to AD city centre also means plenty of good restaurants, cafés, shopping centres to go to. I didn't realise that other fire alarms went off as well. Mine occasionally does and it's nothing. The first few times I wanted to run down the stairs, but now I've learned to check first. And like most people who live in apartments I'd love more storage, but it's not crippling with the amount that I have now and there are inbuilt wardrobes in both rooms. We have lovely views of the marina and the city and massive windows and I see many fury friends being taken out for walks around (although I suggest you mention to your state agent just in case). Ultimately in my view, Reem island is very convenient. Prices have gone up in the time we've been there, but when it comes to renewing our contract we are likely to either stay where we are or look for another flat on the island. I hope this helps. :)

I've lived in Marina Square for two years and just finished processing paperwork for a place in Sun Tower for July. I'm surprised by the previous post as most people I know love Sun/Sky tower. It's considered the premium spot to be in Al Reem and often in Abu Dhabi. During my time in Marina Square, its been fine. The supermarket Geant opened a larger store a little while ago. Its super convenient as its right under the building. I live in Burooj Views and I have great views of the marina and city. Each floor plan is different, but my apartment has a big living room and master bedroom. There's only two of us, so storage wise we use the guest bedroom. I think Reem Island is very convenient, from Marina square its 5 minutes to AD mall, 10-15 minutes to the Corniche, 20-25 minutes to Marina mall. Sun/Sky is only five minutes further into Reem Island. We are moving to Sun tower in a few weeks. We had to move because of the rent increase in my current place. We're actually moving to a 1 bdrm, sacrificing the 2nd room because we felt for us it was worth having the extra amenities- tennis courts, huge gyms with steam room/sauna, spinning, etc. I know people who live in Sun/Sky and love it. The mall is right downstairs, Waitrose, subway, restaurants. I'm surprised that the previous person said they couldn't find what they need there. I always shop at Geant and the only thing I really cant get there is my preferred almond milk brand. In Sun tower, the unit we saw the tenants still lived there and there was ample storage. There's a study area connected to the living room and they had an armoire that fit nicely into the wall space, plus the bathroom had a storage area. I think the space was great for two people. OK, that's all for now;)

Hello, I lived in Sky Tower for 1 year and 1/2. I loved it in the beginning. The view, the security, the gym, the jacuzzis, the parking, etc.. but with time i started hating it. it's so secluded, it takes you 10 mins from once you enter the island till you get to your place. getting from one elevator into another so that you can reach your room. you won't be able to meet people, nothing is close to you except waitrose and geant, and they still dont have everything you need. yes you have cafes and restraunts but i didn't like them much. the atmosphere is so different. my DH and I ended up not going out much because of the hassle of getting to your car. also the fire alarm usually is false, and you panic about how are you going to go down 57 flights of stairs while 9 months pregnant. A lot of violation in the reception where people park their cars and you just end up not being able to wait there because you will block the road. It was just too much, and the rooms where extremely small and no storage space, when i delievered i had no place for the baby's stuff, and ended up using the living room to keep everything, and stopped accepting guests because there was no space for them. However, we just recently moved to Muroor Rd. and i am loving it so much there. i finally feel like i am in a home and not in a hotel room, and since we moved in Feb, we met almost all our neighbors and i finally have a lot of storage to keep unneeded things..
