FYI: if you need one of these you can go to the traffic department on 21st/4th with your visitors blue uk permit, and the visa/passport for a close relative. you need to go to the special permits section and take along the visa and badge, they will issue a permit for the length of stay, they will ask for your driving licence and the gold card of the car, the permit will be issued for one car only, you cannot swap them around, they will ask for your driving licence as you will be responsible for it, they will ask you to sign an undertaking (its in arabic) but it basically says that you must follow the rules etc and now you are only allowed to park in a blue disabled bay for 1 hour only (if you go over 1 hour you will be liable to be fined and its a 1k fine) if you are going to park for more than 1 hour, you can use the blue bay for drop off and pick up only etc.

in dubai they ask for medical proof and this needed to be attested etc, in the many times that i have done this in abu dhabi they do not require this.

once they have done this they will print out and laminate you a blue temporar permit.
