Does anyone know where I can get my UK driver license translated before swapping it. I have heard that the translation process often takes a few days..wondering if there are any offices that can do it the same day!? I'm in Raha Gardens but prob guess I would have to go to town.

Hi Sarahlou: not sure if it is just an Abu Dhabi thing but yes, it has to be done here... Thanks Busybee - yes we have the letter typed out and he has signed it for me to take along..but does he also need to sign their proforma do you know? Just don't want to make more trips to typing office than needed! Thanks heaps... well you just never know..... the system in place is so much better when i first did it 16 years ago.... normally you take everything in triplicate and hope for the best, typing can usually be done at any government place, or if you need a photocopy of something etc.... fact of life here, just go early in the morning and see what happens.

Thanks! dont worry usually all the necessary places are there insitu typing centers etc. remember tho you will need a no objection letter from your hubs if he is your sponsor, ask behind the information desk for their proforma, its all in arabic, but just fill in the gaps where your names etc should be.

Thanks! Is this an Abu Dhabi thing as I didn't translate mine I would of thought the police station that does your eye test/UAE driving licence etc would have this facility if it is a pre requisite
