Hi Ladies, I'm overwhelmed with questions and trying to control my impulse to post all of them here :)

But I've started looking for housing in Abu Dhabi and it seems most villas are unfurnished. That's fine as we'll ship our furniture, but how about the kitchen? What's the standard? Do they usually have cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer?

Villas and apartments are usually completely bare, no kitchen or laundry appliances and sometimes even no light fittings (as is the case with my villa). The older villas also often don't have the air con units - just he holes in the walls in each room. So, you need to really know what you are looking for, what you are bringing with you and what you are prepared to buy here. The more modern villas have slip units installed in all rooms and many of the new villas have ducted air con which much more economical. Good luck!

yes the majority of places will be unfurnished and no applicances. some of the bigger high rises or compounds may have a cooker etc, but the majority wont. most people just buy the necessary bits until the shipment comes or they buy something second hand in the first instance Thanks busybee2! I will be sure to budget for kitchen appliances.
