Just wondered if you can go to supercars at Yas tomorrow and just buy a ticket at the gate. Anyone done this before? It's been advertised for weeks but DH just decided tonight that he wants to go. ;)

Thanks for the info BB2, only just read it but did head to West Welcome Centre and bought tickets, parking no problem. We did comment that the ticket kiosks were a bit disorganised but we had no problems at the Welcome Centre. We were in the West stand too and yeah shame the speakers weren't working. Did notice no earplugs handed out until later then ended up getting handed a pair every few minutes after that so must have been you chasing them that spurred them on. Really enjoyed the day, just a shame that some parents take small kids and let them run wild, one large group even managed to lose a child for a while, no one looking after him. ;) yeh i know what you mean, there were a group of pre teens sitting behind us shouting all the time, very very annoying, the 2 adults for the 10 or so kids were not bothered. they were in the expensive seats and was a good bargain because all of the kids were under 12 so they got in free, and had free ice cream and pop all the time. Yeh the ear plugs, no joke i was hassling them loads of time, must have spoken to at least 8 people about it, and i was walking downstairs when some arrived, and where were they going up to the upper grandstand not bothering with the lower grandstand, i took some of those, but later on another load of ear plugs came along again when i was walking past and told them to take them up to the lower grandstand..... and then all the way after that they were trying to give you ten a dozen all the time....! just how it is here. i did write on the free draw thingy each time about the lack of ear plugs, the lack of parking and the lack of commentary etc. No the welcome centre were good, it was the little ticket kisok that was by the west grandstand that seemed to be having probs, the guys in there were telling me when i informed them that it had all been organised with a parking ticket to park there, that the plans had all been changed 2 days before....!

well people were buying tickets at the door yesterday, considering the yas circuit has been open a couple of years now they are still disorganised..... people who obviously had been in the q for ages were getting really mad and in the end they were just throwing money at the guy and not waiting for their parking permit or their change...... i had to ask loads of people to get the ear plugs over to the west stand, as they were only available at the main grandstand....!!! i had organised with the ticketing manager that we could park close by in the west grandstand as i had a disable badge holder in my car, and the amount of tooing and frooing to get parked was just the usual abu dhabi logic.... it did get sorted in the end....... but then unless you have paid to get to the upper grandstand you have to walk up loads of stairs! and then the commentary you couldnt hear over in the west stand but other than that worth going to see, just the usual administration of things that leaves a lot to be desired. So hope your adventure there was better.

yes i would say that you can the place to go is the visitors centre at the west grandstand. if you go down the main road with the west and north stands half way between ferrari world and the yas hotels there is a junction opp yas links golf club go in there at the roundabout there is the west grandstand entrance, like a toll booth and security guards, a little building on your right, park in the car park and there is the visitors centre where you can buy your tickets, the other place to go is virgin are selling them too. the first race doesnt start until 2pm so you have time to get a ticket if you so wish. if you are going for the cheap seats then i think they are making you park up at the drag area and then bussing you into the stands, only if you buy the more expensive seats will you be able to park closer.
