I started feeding a cat that appeared at my door weeks ago as one of our neighbours had left it. She so wants to be loved but I am allergic to cats so can't have her in the house or touch her really. Anyway whoever dumped her must have known she was pregnant. She went on to have 3 kittens which still hang about yet. I have returned from UK and they are all still hanging about. I will be moving soon and the poor cat will be left again. If anyone looking for a cat or kittens (not so small now) let me know.

If you look on www.dubizzle.com there is a pets free for adoption section , lots of kittens etc for free which you could give a loving home. Also there is a website on facebook called Action Animals which is very similar to SAD who are trying to rehome and foster animals and would love to hear from anyone who could help even one animal. The is also the www.abudhabiwoman.com website which has a pets website which again is free and you may find a rabbit. As the previous posters have eloquently said the ethics of these establishments are questionable and there are so many animals that are desperate for a home. Good luck.

Please consider alternatives to the pet shops. Even if the rabbits are treated okay, buying any animal from the pet shop supports the business and so many dogs and cats bred for the pet stores are mistreated. Further, the dogs and cats that are used as breeders to supply the pet shops live a horrible life. Consider contacting the Strays of Abu Dhabi (SAD) http://straysofabudhabi.com/. They are a dog rescue but have rehomed cats and rabbits and even a turtle and a baby chick! People contact them all the time about animals they need to rehome so they may be to connect you to someone even if they don't currently have a rabbit needing a home. You also may consider posting a notice at your school or other AD schools. So many families move in and out of the country and there are often people looking to rehome rabbits, guinea p i g s, hamsters and turtles. Good luck in finding the perfect pet for you family! edited by Sarah R on 20/05/2011 edited by Sarah R on 20/05/2011 edited by Sarah R on 20/05/2011 Thank you Sarah, that is what I meant to say too. You expressed it so much better than me. ;-)

I don't know what to think of that pet shop at Mazyad mall. I have been in there several times and feel so sad for the puppies and cats, who can be in there for weeks on end. I have asked the boys working there if the animals are taken home at night time and exercised during the day and apparently not. They get a little walk in the car park each day only. I don't think the breeders who supply the pet shop are necessarily decent breeders either. Would like to know much more about their ethics before supporting any pet shop here. There are so many animals desperately needing homes here, why not consider a rescue kitten (much more interactive and intelligent than a rabbit) or phone Falcon Hospital to see if they have any rabbits at the moment. There are lots of people working really hard to improve animal welfare here (and my God, does this place need some animal education). If we all just do a little to help support and promote this, we can all help make a difference. By not attending animal circus's to not supporting pet shops selling live animals, to adopting a rescue animal. I'll hop off my little soap box now..... just had to put my tuppence worth in ;-)

The Mazyad Mall pet store has had rabbits in the past, but they don't always have them.
