Thank you everyone, I was rather daunted by it all but I'm feeling a bit less worried now and more excited. My husband is there already so I shall get him to do some exploring. Thank you all again, much appreciated xxx

Corniche would be too much of a drive for you to school every day, and you can get a villa in kca or Mbz for what you'd pay for an apartment on corniche. I would personally go for kca - more developed, close to lots of amenities such as supermarkets, restaurants and you should get property for a reasonable price. Although MBZ will be less expensive I would say there's less around, you do get what you pay for. Depending on budget you could also consider Al Reef where there are lots of families and it's not too far too school and close to KCA and yas island too. it depends.... kca is very very busy now, if you have a car it doesnt really matter as you can do the shopping when out..... depending on where in kca you may live, there are two ways of getting to gems either down the al ain road, which they are even more nutters on the road, or over thru kcc and kcb and then across, much quieter and easier... or you stay closer to the school at mbz or kcb or baniyas etc

Thank you everyone, your replies and advice have been great thank you! I've seen some amazing villas in kca and mbz. Just a question that may seem silly, my husband will be out the country for a couple of weeks at a time so I'll be there with our two children. Safety wise,I'll I feel safe? We are relocating from Scotland and we are near a very large town and I never feel 100% safe. I'm just trying to get a feel for the areas xx what area of scotland... and you will be fine, you will need a car tho otherwise you will be a bit stuck.

Hi Everyone, We are due to be moving to Abu Dhabi in September and were originally planning to live on the corniche, however having researched it, although it looks amazing, we have children who also like to have a bit ofa a roam at home too, which I don't think they would get in the corniche. We looked at khalifa city and Mohammed bin zayed city, and now I'm totally thrown! My oldest daughter will be going to gems Cambridge international school in sept so they both look ideal places for the school. But I've heard so many mixed reports, some people love KCA and Mbz and some people hate it. We aren't people who have been used to being in the middle of a town, have just lived on a leafy housing estate where the kids have been used to bussing or biking to school. Does anyone have any advice/opinions that could help us? I did see we could get more house for our money in kca or mbz which would be nice. I just want to get it right the first time and make sure the children are safe and happy from the word go. Xx if you are going to gems i would look at kcb which is closest as opposite or the new buildings right next to the school which are the only places allowable for expats to rent in baniyas, as baniyas is a local housing area... so the new apartments/villas part of the bawabat al sharq mall development are ok to rent... otherwise look at mbz as kca is the furthest away and very busy! Yes the new housing is by the Bawabat Al Sharq Mall is available for expats, from what I hear more and more expats are going out there. I am excited to get there...

I am fairly new here as well, came late last year. I are country people and hate the big cities, no room, too many fast and reckless drivers. Our kids are grown up so we don`t have to worry about schools. We did a drive around and would have looked for something there but we wanted to be near a mall as I don`t drive here and can walk. We chose to go to Baniyas, I dont`think it is too far from KCA or Mohammed Bin Zayed. There are many things in A.D. that I would love to be there for that would be convenience but since we are in the Western region during the week it really didn`t matter as DH can drive me in on Weekends. We are hoping this will work for us and decide to stay there, for now it is the best choice for the slower pace, we will re-evaluate in a year.
