| Last updated on 14 November 2017By now you must have heard about the new museum in Abu Dhabi that is creating quite a buzz: The Louvre museum. We have been waiting eight long years for the museum and it finally opened its doors last weekend!
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first of its kind in the Arab world as well as the only Louvre museum that is not located in France.
In 2007 Abu Dhabi and France came to an intergovernmental agreement to launch the Louvre in the UAE in and our patience has finally been rewarded. The museum is located on Saadiyat Island and is just as stunning as the exhibitions that it holds. It was designed by the Pritzker Prize winning French architect Jean Nouvel and consists of 7,850 stars that make the geometric structure.
