Top Abu Dhabi Attractions to Watch Out For
Just when you think you have seen it all, Abu Dhabi has more attraction surprises lined up! Not only are they going to be tourist attractions but they will be gemstones for the city’s cultural and art district as well. 
 
Here are the upcoming Abu Dhabi attractions to watch out for in detail:

YAS ISLAND


Warner Bros World Theme Park

Warner Bros theme park to open on Yas Island

Location: Yas Island

What to watch out for: It has been announced that the UAE will be welcoming a new home of the recognisable Warner Bros company, as plans have been revealed of a stunning Warner Bros World theme park to be opened on Yas Island in 2018. Films such as Batman vs Superman, Inception and other DC Comics will feature heavily, as well as F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Looney Tunes. 

When: 2018

EW says: This is going to be a fantatic development not just for Abu Dhabi, but for the entire of the UAE, in attracting global tourists. We love what's planned, and we can't wait to see it finalised so we can visit! 


SAADIYAT ISLAND


Saadiyat Island is bracing itself to be the capital of art and culture. With this objective in mind, the Saadiyat Cultural District was born. It aims to not only be the country’s cultural hub but to be a global one as well. Under the Saadiyat Cultural District, the expected museums are the most anticipated Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Museum-- all three of which are designed by the prestigious and world-renowned Pritzker prize winners. In addition, The Performing Arts Centre will also rise along with Maritime Museum, which will be the home for Abu Dhabi’s maritime heritage and will share stories and artifacts of the Emirati’s colorful history with the sea.
 

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Location: Saadiyat Island
 
What to watch out for: With the exciting joint venture of the governments of Abu Dhabi and France, it will be the home of artifacts from different civilizations and of different cultures, art pieces, manuscripts and other objects of historical, cultural and sociological significance. Lourve Abu Dhabi is also currently in the process of developing its own national collection and will be displaying loans from French museums such as Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and Centre Pompidou.

EW says: We cannot wait for this museum to open especially to see which art pieces they will feature on loan from partner French museums like Musée du Louvre!


Zayed National Museum

Location: Saadiyat Island 
 
What to watch out for: The museum is named after the beloved Father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for his unification and modernization of the United Arab Emirates. It will also be the country’s national museum that will tell the story of the nation and its cultural connections all over the world. 
 
When: 2016

EW Says: For every expat, resident or tourist... it is always important to look back and get to know the host country's history. This way we get to appreciate its modernization even more.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi

What to watch out for: Another exciting museum at the Island will be the home for global contemporary art and culture. Residents and tourists of Abu Dhabi will get to enjoy the greatest art achievements of our time right in the heart of United Arab Emirates.

EW says: Another exciting museum in Abu Dhabi! Absolutely cannot wait for it to open and be blown away by the art exhibits in this beautifully-designed Guggenheim museum.


Performing Arts Centre

Location: Saadiyat Island 
 
What to watch out for: Designed by Iraqi/British architect Zaha Hadid, it is designed with organic structures. One of its many unique features are the opaque walls and roofs that mimic skin with veins and nerves or they could branches and leaves. Some say that the structure looks like an embryo while some speculate that it may be a replica of a bird’s skull.

EW Says: This Performing Arts Centre looks absolutely stunning in design! It's also made with organic structures, I hear! Can't wait what shows will be featured here and if there will be foreign productions as well.


Maritime Museum

Location: Saadiyat Island
 
What to watch out for: This exciting museum is designed by Tadao Ando. It is said to be the last museum to be built on the Island.  It will share the rich and colorful maritime history of the United Arab Emirates and the sea through different works of art. The building will combine space, light and water inside and out, while featuring the Arabian Gulf as its most spectacular exhibit.

EW says: The museum's design looks nothing like other museus I've seen before. It looks so futuristic and interesting. Can't wait for it's opening!


AL MARYAH ISLAND


Al Maryah Central

Location: Al Maryah Island
 
What to watch out for: Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, two of the biggest and most popular department stores in the United States, will open at Al Maryah Central. Macy’s will also mark its milestone of opening its first store outside of the US and its first entry into the Middle East region. 
 
When: 2018

EW says: As if we do not have enough shopping malls already but who is complaining?  If it is brining both Macy's and Bloomingdale's in Abu Dhabi, we cannot wait for it to open its doors to the public!


Sowwah Central

Sowwah Central
 
Location: Al Maryah Island, adjacent to The Galleria at Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi.
 
What to watch out for: A shopping mall that costs a whopping AED 3.6 billion, will house two department stores, a cinema, and an estimated more than 350 shops, supermarket and a waterfront promenade. 
 
When: 2017

EW says: Another mall on Al Maryah island that supposedly costs AED 3.6 billion! Cannot wait to see the structure and the exciting mall shops and attractions!


AL BATEEN


Marina Bloom


Marina Bloom
 
Location: Al Bateen Area

What to watch out for: The area will feature a five-star hotel, 57 executive serviced apartments and waterfront retail areas.

When: Third quarter of 2016
