Baking soda can be used for much more than just baking...

| Last updated on 19 December 2017Baking soda is one of the most common items in every kitchen but most commonly used in baking. Did you know that it has a long list of uses? It is practically a must-have in a home because of the amazing wonders of its uses.
Here are some of the uses of baking soda:
1. Clean your filthy oven with baking soda.
Stuck with a dirty oven? Make it look shiny and new by sprinkling baking soda to the bottom. Spray with water to moisten the baking soda and let it sit overnight. When you wake up, scrub and scoop the baking soda and the grime that will come out with a cleaning sponge. Even easier, you can also vacuum the crumbs and then rinse after.
2. Clean the microwave.
As it is with cleaning your oven, finding a gentle cleanser without ruining the interior or finding cleansers without harsh fragrance can be difficult when it comes to cleaning the microwave. You can use baking soda for that! Dampen a clean sponge and sprinkle baking soda on it. Gently clean the inside and outside of your microwave and then rinse well with water. No need to worry about harsh smells!
3. Clean coffee and teapots.
Coffee and tea stains can be hard to remove. You can eliminate them by washing mugs and pots with a solution made from baking soda! With 1 quart of water, mix in ¼ cup of baking soda and use this to wash your pots and mugs. If the stain is tough to remove, soak it overnight with this baking soda solution plus detergent. You can also scrub them with baking soda on a clean sponge.
4. Whiten your teeth!
Why pay a fortune for tooth whitening when baking soda can do the trick? Just dip your toothbrush with toothpaste on top to give your toothpaste extra cleaning power.
5. Homemade facial scrub and body exfoliator.

Make a solution of 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water. Mix thoroughly to form a paste. Apply on skin and rub gently in a circular motion to exfoliate. Rinse thoroughly and avoid eyes. It is gentle enough for daily use.
6. Use baking soda to neutralize odors.
You can use baking soda by placing an open box of it inside the fridge to get rid of unpleasant odors. You can also sprinkle, scrub and rinse your chopping board with baking soda. It can also deodorize drains and garbage disposals. Just pour ½ cup of baking soda on a damp sponge and wipe the recyclable container or pour ½ cup of baking soda to the drain while running hot or warm tap water.
7. Deodorize your car.
Eliminate odors from your car by sprinkling baking soda directly to the seats. Let it sit for 15 minutes or longer if the odor is strong then vacuum the baking soda.
8. Clean hair brushes and combs.
By soaking your hair brushes and combs in a mixture of 1 teaspoon baking soda and a little bit of water, you can effortlessly clean them until they are as good as new.
9. Freshen up your laundry.
Add 1 cup of baking soda to your washing machine when washing your clothes to make it cleaner and the colors more vibrant.
10. Freshen up your carpets and rugs by dry cleaning it with baking soda.
Sprinkle some all over, leave for 15 minutes and then vacuum it all up after.
