The children's library offers young ones a cultural hub to read, learn, discover, and dream

Abu Dhabi opened the region's largest children's library, located in the heart of the city and near the emirate's oldest landmark, Qasr Al Hosn. The Abu Dhabi Children's Library stands as a proud symbol of the importance of children's education, imagination, and community, offering bookworm kids their new cherished spaces to get lost in their own little universe.

The 5,250 square metre building divides more than 35,000 books into different age-appropriate reading categories across three floors. Dedicated interactive learning and reading spaces allow children and teenagers to enjoy a variety of writing, filmmaking, and storytelling activities.

Each floor's design draws inspiration from the UAE's diverse landscapes. The library is promised to become a valuable destination for schools, children, and families across the region.

Other activities include year-round public workshops and exhibitions designed for children and families to promote creativity and lifelong learning skills.

According to Reem Fadda, Director of the Cultural Foundation, the library workshops are suited for kids up to 14 years old. These programs may require advanced booking depending on the popularity of the workshops, and kids can take home any work they create during the workshop using the free materials provided.

Growth of Abu Dhabi's arts and culture spaces

The Abu Dhabi Children's Library is part of a series of community spaces planned by the Cultural Foundation. Other projects include a new threatre and several upcoming art studios, a visual arts exhibition, and Bait Al Khatt - a calligraphy house.

The kids' library is the city's recent investment in immersive learning spaces to help children develop and become young leaders and thinkers of the future.

Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Executive Committee, commented, "Abu Dhabi's strength as a cultural hub is the deep link between our history and future aspirations.
