5 Reasons Why the Whole Family Will Enjoy the New Dates at MWTC

The Arabian Gulf’s leading tennis experience is now less than two months away

The Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) returns to the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi for its 12th edition this December, once again featuring a star-studded cast of the best in the game.

Six of the world’s top male tennis players, including World No. 2 Rafael Nadal, and World No. 4 Daniil Medvedev, will battle it out for the title and an early confidence boost for the 2020 season.

For the third year running, the Championship, which has established itself as the people’s favourite event in Abu Dhabi, will host a one-off women’s elimination match on Day 1. Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova will face-off against a rising star of women’s tennis, 18-year-old Amanda Anisimova.

In line with its promise to continually bring the best tennis talent to Abu Dhabi and deliver the best experience for visitors, Mubadala World Tennis Championship organisers have made a strategic move to bring the Championship forward by a week from its usual spot.

The Championship will take place from December 19 to 21, offering the best tennis action on-court, and the best entertainment off it.

Here are 5 reasons why the new dates make Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2019 a must-attend event.

1. School’s Out – Entertain the Kids, for FREE!

The winter school holidays, a time when kids are foot faulting around the house looking for ways to be entertained as they await the big festive occasion. MWTC has served up a treat for families seeking a day in the outdoors to let off some steam.

For the second year in a row, Day 1 of the Championship is Kids Day, with children 12 and under going FREE!

In addition to seeing guaranteed top-class tennis action on Day 1, with Maria Sharapova vs Amanda Anisimova one of the three confirmed matches, there’s a range of fun activities at the Tennis Village to keep the children entertained throughout the day:

  • Autograph signings
  • Player clinics
  • Special kids’ Q&As with players
  • Training sessions
  • Competitions and games
  • Food and beverages

And much, much more...

2. Stay and Play, Allow Abu Dhabi To Serve Up A Treat

It’s holiday season and the urge to get away from it all is strong. Rather than traveling out of the country, the new dates for MWTC offer the perfect chance to net a nice getaway and recharge the batteries without facing the stress of airport queues, flight delays, and extra travel costs.

Unwind while soaking up the festival atmosphere at the International Tennis Centre and exploring what the UAE capital has to offer, whether its leisure or culture, past or present.

Stay and play packages are available at Nirvana Travels and begin at just AED 2,100, which include hotel accommodation and tickets to the Championship for all three days. For more information, visit the official Nirvana Travels website.

3. Start the Holiday Season in Style

The festive season gets the party swinging. Have a ball and do something different to start the holiday season in style. Grab friends, family or work colleagues, and head for a day of tennis. The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is more than just on-court tennis action.

The annual event is a great chance to mix the best of live sport with fun activities, competitions, and entertainment in the vibrant Tennis Village.

This year’s merchandise store in the village will feature an all-new range of products specially developed for the Championship.

4. Gift Your Loved Ones Some Top-Class Tennis Action

It’s the season of giving, but December can be tougher than a line judge’s call when deciding what to buy a loved one. The new dates, December 19 to 21, represent a winning shot at presenting someone with an early present.
