Good News, You Can Get Free Tyre Checks Until July 16

According to Abu Dhabi Police, in the first half of 2019, there have been over 5,000 cases of damaged or exploding tyres across the city, which led to the seizure of the vehicles.

Two people died, eight were moderately injured, and four others were slightly injured from accidents caused by exploding tyres. These accidents have urged the police to launch a safety campaign for driving during the summer.

In an effort to promote road safety, Abu Dhabi Police is working with Al Masaood Tyres to offer free tyre checks until Tuesday, July 16. The free service can be availed at six Adnoc petrol stations in Corniche, Al Reem Islands, Khalifa city, Al Samha, Al Mushrif, and Mahwi areas.

Brigadier Salim Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said that old tyres can explode as a result of high temperatures. Such accidents are common during the July and August months.

Authorities also warned that accidents on the road caused by damaged or exploded tyres will result in a fine of AED 500 and 4 black points.

According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), car tyres are valid for 5 years from its date of manufacture regardless of whether it's been used or not.
