We're looking at the possibility of moving to Middle East, partner based in Saudi during the week, working for a Saudi co.

I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to open a bank account (and possibly get accommodation!) as I won't have a work permit, job contract etc?

I will be a director in partner's company, and will also be doing 'office manager' type work - so I could have an employment contract for that - but I don't know if that would help (and if I'd need a work permit for that!)?

Thanks for any assistance. I feel really excited about the prospect of a move!

Once you have the company set up in Bahrain, then just apply for a work visa. Don't have much information about bank requirements, but i do believe they require a work visa for bank account - although you may inquire about bank account in $ currency which many have different rules. Why not use your home country bank account? You can use credit card and debit cards anywhere so home country bank account should do. Other things, just pay in cash. Rents, etc. can be paid in cash. Bahrain is a nice country and is not so expensive or complicated. edited by UmmSalsabil on 09/08/2014
